Kkdd: Cricket Results at Three Different Scales

A tournament contains matches; a match contains innings; an innings contains overs. A result at one scale does not automatically answer a question at another.

This page explains game formats and rules; it is not a playable lobby. Check the relevant service for current game availability and the exact version in use.

BPL

BPL is a named cricket competition in Kkdd's content; no specific market or fixture list is implied.

IPL

IPL is a named cricket competition in Kkdd's content; tournament and match results are distinct.

T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is a named event in Kkdd's content; the relevant stage and fixture must still be identified.

A fixture winner is not a champion

Imagine a team wins its first IPL match but later exits the competition. It is a winner of that fixture, not the IPL champion. Conversely, the eventual champion may lose an earlier fixture. The competition label is therefore insufficient to settle either question without the event scope.

When reading a cricket selection, name the tournament and then the exact object: one match, a group stage, a playoff or the final champion. If the event is interrupted or decided under special competition rules, the applicable selection terms govern the outcome.

Work the six-over example

Suppose a T20 side scores 8, 6, 10, 7, 9 and 8 runs in overs one through six. The powerplay total is 48. A hypothetical six-over line of 45.5 is crossed because 48 is higher. This calculation does not require knowing the eventual match winner.

The side could finish its innings on 167, making a separate full-innings line of 170.5 unfulfilled. The two examples have the same team and fixture but different periods and thresholds. They are educational numbers, not quoted Kkdd lines or evidence of a current market.

A live score is a timestamped observation

A panel showing 48/1 after six overs answers what happened up to that point. It does not settle a full-innings question. Wickets, remaining overs, interruptions and later runs can change the final total and may affect which competition rules apply.

Record the over and innings alongside the score when discussing a result. '48 runs' without 'after six overs in Side A's first innings' loses the information needed to interpret it. For a match-winner question, wait for the match's governing result rather than extrapolating from an early lead.

Questions about games

Does winning one BPL match mean winning the BPL?

No. A fixture winner and tournament champion are different results. The selection must identify which event it concerns.

If a side has 48 after six overs, is its innings total 48?

No. Forty-eight is its score at the end of the six-over period. The completed innings can finish higher or be affected by later play.

Can a powerplay total and full-innings total give opposite answers?

Yes. The worked example crosses 45.5 after six overs but finishes at 167, below a separate full-innings line of 170.5.
